MY question is why they combined AIT and basic? Basic is just one half there's like 200 gazillion MOS's so this was a bit odd. But ohhhh did the Bootcamp bring back memories lol.

Infantry training is always held at Fort Benning GA and is OSUT (One Station Unit Training) where basic and AIT are combined together. I was an 11B and went to basic in April 2001. Back then our basic and AIT or OSUT was only 13 weeks long. I know the Army extended the training to make it 22 weeks long which is a good thing, even though the Army is a lot a lot softer now a days while one is in basic.

OSUT encompasses basic training as well as the MOS training for infantrymen. People in the army who are not infantry do not go through OSUT, instead, they go through Basic training and then "AIT" (advanced individual training) where they learn there specific MOS

Infantry and MPs do One Station Unit Training (OSUT) which is 22 weeks and combines Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). After that they head to their first duty assignment. All other MOSs do 9 weeks of BCT and then head to their AIT for further training which varies by location and duration depending on their MOS. Upon completion of AIT a Soldier will head to their first duty assignment.

My brother went to that exact boot camp and it’s infantry then the do the other half but you do both half’s at once
Jtorivio6 Месяц назад
So the marines have boot camp that all recruits go to regardless of their MOS. We learn basics of war fighting and once boot camp we go to either SOI or ITB. ITB is where marines go in Into advanced war training such as mount etc.

They do somethung called OSUT or One Station Unit Training. It's where they have soldiers do Basic Combat Training(BCT) and Advanced Individual Training(AIT) in one singular cycle. 22 weeks is for the infantry. The MOS determines how long you stay & train, then there's different schools like Air Assault or Airborne
fnordy shoe
fnordy shoe Месяц назад
To answer your question about basic during COVID. They moved combatives to AIT(STO1) or further down the line for OSUT. But it looks like they removed it temporarily. I just finished BCT as a STO1, they make us wear masks for most of our time there
Tyler Месяц назад
OSUT combines a recruits bootcamp and special school into one process. They call it one station unit training because for example an infantry soldier would go through bootcamp, then straight to their infantry school while at the same place, or “one station” they just don’t leave and go somewhere else.
PVT MARTIN Месяц назад
That’s infantry we go through basic for 22 weeks long total we have the regular 9 weeks basic then transition to ait we do just about everything you can think of

infantry is about 22 weeks while non infantry is about 9 weeks of train than they go do their AIT or their MOS/job training. But depending on whats your job in Army short as 4 weeks or long as 18 months

Correct, they’re infantry and they were doing their basic training and once they pass phase 1 they’ll move onto phase 2 of training their actual infantry training. It’s like the British infantry we do phase 1 (basic) then phase 2 (infantry training) which I am joining.

Fort Benning is a combat arms training station, armor and infantry. Infantry training was originally 14 weeks, 12 weeks of basic training, 2 weeks of infantry training. They made it 22 weeks and called it OUST because you stay with the same training company. After the 12 weeks of basic you get 10 more weeks of a more in-depth training on what infantry is expected to do in times of war.

The “shark attack” lasts for the 72 hours and it’s like the for the whole thing straight little sleep getting smoked the whole time. And for the first 16 weeks it’s intense and even after there are moments it sucks. For my company we didn’t have females in it. We were less than 24 hours from actually graduating and leaving to our units and we still got dropped even in dress uniform. This video does not show a good job of it.

Army basic training lasts 10 weeks once soldiers get picked up from reception. From there, they send each soldier to their AIT os MOS school. I did my training at Ft. Benning, GA. and was sent to Ft. Lee, VA. The 22 week training is for the infantry soldiers. They go thru their 10 weeks of basic and then continue into their infantry training. After they are pinned with the blue cord, they are sent for further training like airborne or sent to their duty stations
SGobuck 2 месяца назад
Scouts, tankers, grunts and maybe redlegs attend OSUT, while the others do bct in various places, then go somewhere else for the specialty training related to their MOS. Unlike the Marine corps, every soldier is *not* a rifleman... getting them up to speed on the level of your average infantry company might take a few days. 🤣

OSUT stands for One Station Unit Training. It’s like Basic and AIT (which is the Army’s version of A School in the Navy) combined. Most combat arms like infantry and combat engineers (I think? I’m 11B so I’m not sure) go there.

22 week OSUT at this time is 22 weeks for cav scouts and infantry. Tankers are shorter still. (For now) Every other job has 10 weeks of basic training and then AIT to train them for their specific job. The whole first part of the video is 30th ag. It’s reception. They are just doing in processing before going to actual boot camp. That’s why they were just learning attention and facing movements right off the bus.

This was Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT). A little different than other MOS training. In other MOS training, a soldier will complete basic training at a basic training installation, and then will report to a different unit for Advanced Individual Training (AIT) to learn their MOS specific skills (i.e. aviation, quartermaster, MP, etc.). With Infantry OSUT it’s a total of 22 weeks (14 when I went years ago), is conducted only at Ft. Benning, GA, and includes basic training and advance infantry training all in one place. You stay with the same unit for both basic and MOS training, and you stay with the same Drill Sergeants and classmates all the way through till graduation.
Devan Guzman
Devan Guzman 2 месяца назад
Infantry, MP, and combat engineers do what’s called OSUT (one station unit training) which means they go to there training station and go through basic training (red, white, and blue phase) then after they’re done with basic training they start schooling specific to their MOS while remaining at the same basic and have the same drill sergeants as they did through basic and they do not have a graduation until the very end of all the training. Now BCT/AIT soldiers go through basic training which is 10 weeks, then they will graduate once they’ve completed it and be sent to whichever station or unit wether it’s on the same base or not to do their school. For me as a 12D I did basic training with combat engineers in ft LWood, once BCT was over I left the unit and moved to a different one but remained on ft LWood while everybody else remained at the same unit to complete their combat engineer school

My husband is at benning currently. They have put a halt to the direct contact training. He says its hell. Its hot and not easy if you show even the slightest signs of ANY illness you get sent to qurintine for 13 days at least and then whats called recycled if they recycle you. You have to start all over. Boot camp is 10 weeks and ait,job training is 12 weeks, its dual training they get it all done in one place.
